The Full Moon in Capricorn

The Full Moon in Capricorn occurs on Monday morning around 7:30am EST.

Full Moon are oppositions in the sky we can actually see!  As the sun sets, the moon rises and the Earth lies between them.  The Sun, representing our vital life force, is what  emblazons us with inner warmth and a commitment to self.  It is what makes us shine.  When opposite the Moon, this illuminates our emotional inner self, our wants and needs, what nourishes our bodies, and what we require for inner happiness and healing.  As a result, during full moons, emotions can feel heightened.

I often see Full Moons as a time of celebration and honoring wherever you are at.  Whatever were the seeds of intention you planted during the New Moon, you may now begin to see the fruits of your labor.

With the Moon in the sign of Capricorn this speaks to the foundations we are laying down for ourselves as it relates to our broader life goals and projects.  What are you building in your life that is meant to last?  Capricorn has staying power and wants to see the bones of your work being laid out.  As the moon is trining Jupiter, planet of luck and abundance, this is a fortunate moon, when you use it practically.

Saturn is the planetary ruler of Capricorn, known for criticism and coldness, this can be stark medicine when you are trying to celebrate, but I love Saturn for it dedication to self-determination and commitment to betterment.  Saturn wants goals and progress, but Saturn does not rush.  Saturn works slowly and inhibits the self from diving into situations which require more time and thought.  Saturn is incredibly protective, just like our Sun’s position in Cancer.

With the Sun in nurturing Cancer at the time of this Capricorn Fill Moon, this highlights the mother-father axis, which challenges us to balance love and caring with boundaries and protection. This is an opportunity to heal parts of yourself that need or needed self-nurturing.  When did you need yourself to be on your own side, but pushed too hard? When did you talk yourself down from doing what you knew would make you happy?  When did you put yourself in situations where you knew in your gut you should have said “no”?

Since Neptune just went retrograde on Saturday, this likely has to do with dreams that we once had for ourselves but have let go of, for lack of time, effort, money or pragmatism.  Neptune retrogrades are important times to review your dreams.

On Saturday, the sun also had a cazimi with Mercury, highlighting a profound connection with your mental processes in alignment with your life’s goals.  What thoughts have recently been needing more attention and awareness from you?  What are you going to do about it?

Now is a great time to take those important self-care steps to sustain your longer-lasting journey of growth…to put down unnecessary tasks and focus on what is needed to give you the life you want.  With Saturn, this often means doing the thing you don’t necessarily want to do, but know that you should do, for your own well-being.  Maybe that means budgeting, eating healthier, doing the boring paperwork, making the call, decluttering, etc.

Mars and Venus are also in a conjunction, in Leo, doing their dance of masculine and feminine: force and desire.  One is pushy, the other is receptive.  Venus is what we want and Mars is how we get it.  Relationships may be on alert for you here, or maybe just a magnified view of your own wants being expressed more ruthlessly.  As this summer progresses, Venus will be center stage when she goes retrograde and we will have even more of a draw into these realms of desire that make clear where we are headed with our goals.

For now, clarify what it is that you are working towards and how you are going to get there, and then doing the celebration dance that honors checking something off of your list that’s been lingering for too long.
